Serapio Medrano

Ceramicist

Serapio Medrano is a Mexican ceramicist born in Santa Cruz de Las Huertas, Jalisco, Mexico in 1946. He is the son of Candelario Medrano (1918-1986), who was a famous ceramicist in the 70's. Candelario's works were held in high regard and were widely collected, especially by U.S. tourists. When he passed away, Serapio took over his father's works, but added his own distinct twist. Serapio's works are created in his own open air studio and he uses a wood-fired brick kiln. Serapio currently works in Tonala and is active.
