Marcial Camilo Ayala (1951-2017) was a Nahua artist from the village of San Agustin Oapan in the Rio Balsas valley of Guerrero, Mexico. He first started as a street artist painting amates, when in 1972, he was discovered by American art collector Edmund Rabkin in Taxco. Marcial, along with his brothers Juan and Felix, were encouraged to keep painting, which eventually led them to be well-known artists by the late 1970s.
