Manuel Manilla (1830, Mexico City -1895, Mexico City) was a Mexican engraver from Mexico City. In 1882, he started working at Antonio Canegas Arroyo's printshop, where he created about 500 illustrations for broadsides, books and other publications. He was also known for his "calaveras", which became a major influence to Jose Guadalupe Posada, who took over as head engraver after Manuel retired in 1892. Manuel also had a son who was an engraver, and they both set their own shop in Mexico City, where he continued to create illustrations until he passed from typhus in 1895.
