Enrique Luis Ventosa

Poet and Artist

Enrique Luis Ventosa was a Spanish poet and artist who arrived in Puebla in 1897 and became fascinated with it's history and craftwork that made Puebla stand out. This led to him becoming the leading force behind the renaissance in Talavera ware. Ventosa befriended Ysauro Uriarte in 1922, who had just inherited his grandfather's workshop, and worked together to create unique ceramics introducing pre-Columbian art into the motifs along with the Islamic, Chinese and Italian influences that were already present.
