Dolores Porras (1937-2010) was a Zapotec master potter who used color to transform the ceramic tradition of Santa Maria Atzompa, Oaxaca, Mexico, where she was also born. She started her artistic journey at 13, working alongside her father and adoptive mother. She then honed her skills in the studio of Teodora Blanco Nunez, a renowned innovator, where she learned more in the decorative pastillage technique. Dolores' husband, Alfredo Regino Ramirez, helped her with experimental works like using a novel technique to produce brilliantly colored ceramics.
