Balbino Lucano

Ceramicist

Balbino Lucano (1892-1964) was a Mexican ceramicist from Tonala, Jalisco, Mexico. Balbino Lucano and his father, Tomas, were two of the most prominent post Mexican Revolution potters of Tonala and Tlaquepaque. They pioneered this region's glazed pottery with artwork that included social realism, Aztec revival and the petatillo technique. It's also known that Lucano did not sign most of his early works.
