Additional Information
The Maker
Emilia Castillo is an award-winning designer who was born in Taxco, Mexico. She continues the silversmith legacy started by her father, Antonio Castillo. Antonio trained under William Spratling, a renowned silversmith, and then went on to found the "Los Castillo" workshop alongside his brothers. They contributed to the development of Taxco jewelry during the 40's and 50's. Emilia now takes over and continues to create works based on nature and her childhood. Her works include using porcelain with inlaid sterling silver and tableware that combines silverplate with alabaster, black onyx and malachite. Her works are owned by presidents and kings. Today, she still resides and works at the Old Taxco ranch that she grew up in.
