The pieces depict two chubby infants wearing a red bird's mask while sitting on top of an orb, perhaps representing the earth. One piece is marked "F Jorge Marin 96", and the other marked "F Jorge Marin."

Condition
Good condition. Professional repair has been made to broken off hand. Bottom has bonding adhesive from where the clay sculptures were once adhered to wood bases which are original to the work and come with the pieces.

The Maker
Jorge Marín (b.1963) is a Mexican contemporary sculptor and painter from Uruapan, Michoácan, Mexico. He began his career with ceramic sculpting in the early 1980s, then started working with bronze as his preferred medium. His works usually depict horses, centaurs, garudas, children, madonnas and acrobats, including elements like spheres, masks, wings, arrows, boats and scales. His human figure works are metaphors of its own experiences.
