Additional Information
The Maker
Felix Camilo Ayala (c.1950s-2021) was a Nahua Mexican folk artist from the village of San Agustin Oapan in the Rio Balsas valley in Guerrero. He began his career as a street artist painting amates, then was discovered by American art collector Edmund Rabkin in 1972 at Taxco. The idea spread onto to his two brothers, Juan and Marcial, who've also become well-known artists. Felix was described as being less ambitious than his brothers, but had a natural eye for a good scene. He passed away due to COVID.
