Description

The wax figure depicts Charles Lindbergh, an American aviator who was famed for his 1927 solo transatlantic flight, which took place from New York to Paris in the span of 33 hours and 3,600 miles. He has brown hair with a sculpted but not detailed face and wears a plaid shirt, a belt, brown pants and brown, pointy boots. One hand rests on his hip and the other in his pocket. He stands on a wooden base. This piece is signed by Luis Hidalgo and dated 1927.

Luis Hidalgo (1901-1986) was a wax and waxen fabrics modeler. It's noted that he comes from a line of ancestors who devoted themselves to wax modeling. Hidalgo was most known for wax figurines portraying famous men, such as fighters to generals and poets to politicians. He also had a talent for incorporating the caricature art style in his wax figures.
